Lockheed Martin’s TacForge

Following a 20-year evolution, the TacForge product line evolved into TacForge Pro and GeoSketch products that support mission critical operations’ demand for rapid data processing, simplified and repeatable workflows, and a straightforward user interface.

To meet quick response requirements, the tools balance the power of automation with the necessity to get the job done right the first time.

TacForge GeoSketch

TacForge GeoSketch is a plug-in to Google SketchUp that enables the use of oblique imagery sources to construct photo-realistic 3D models.

Lockheed Martin has developed TacForge GeoSketch with the following cutting edge features:
  • Geospecific 3D model geometry creation and auto-texturing from oblique images
  • Mapping between the 2D image space of oblique aerial imagery and the 3D modeling workspace
  • Enabling export from SketchUp into common Modeling and Simulation formats and conventions
  • Plugin to Google SketchUp

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
The system requirements for the TacForge GeoSketch™ tools to operate properly are as follows:

  • Windows XP/XP x64/Vista/Vista x64/7/7 x64
  • 2 GB of RAM
  • 500 MB of disk space on the target drive (includes tutorial dataset)
  • Google SketchUp 7.1 or 8.0 installed

TacForge Pro

TacForge Pro is a tool pipeline that fuses multiple disparate imagery sources into a seamless dataset.

Lockheed Martin has developed TacForge Pro with the following cutting edge features:

  • Advanced workflow management tools
  • Customizable and extensible
  • “Grid” enabled for distributed processing environments
  • Diverse metrics collection and graphing

New Features

  • Import Pictometry® data by shape file reference or by image navigator downloads.
  • Provided a link to GeoSketch Image Navigator (GIN) and the Import GIN tool
    • GIN is available as a separate installer and requires credentials to Pictometry navigator.  Please contact Gordon Lawson, V.P., Federal Sales – Pictometry, for more information.
  • Added GeoSketch Image Editor (external tool) which provides basic image editing capabilities (i.e., contrast adjustment, HSI adjustment).
  • Added toggle switches for Auto-Texture New Faces, Re-Texture Modified Faces and Roof OuterShell On/Off.
  • Added the Bundle Adjust tool to improve the camera models (tool is currently in prototype).
  • Import elevation data to use as a reference for 3D model settling (tool is currently in prototype).

Updates

  • Included additional methods for texture placement in the Texture Face tool.
  • Added option to geo-locate manually when importing a nadir image.
  • Renamed the RPC Tools toolbar to Advanced Tools and moved the LOD tool, FID/SMC tool and Import Shape tool to Advanced Tools.
  • Added/updated several new toolbar and cursor icons (i.e., bundle adjustment, Pictometry tools and RPC tools).
  • Increased maximum composite texture for OpenFlight export.
  • The Help documentation now includes all 3.0 new and updated features.
  • Expanded the initial evaluation period to 30 days.

Bug Fixes

  • Various bug fixes and improvements to the GeoSketch Image Editor.
  • Fixed bug in Texture Face tool where texture reverted back to original AuxView.
  • Fixed bug in Import GIN to read in data from a different directory.
  • Fixed a bug in the Arc and Line tools.
